Biography
Trained at the National University of Malaysia, Misyail is graduated with an Honors Degree in Law whilst also completing the Diploma in Islamic Judicial and Legal Profession.
She joined the Malaysia Judicial and Legal Service as Federal Counsel in 2003 and rapidly progressed to the status of Senior Federal Counsel in the Attorney General’s Chambers of Malaysia where she drafted legislation and provided legal opinion to the federal government including the cabinet, ministries and various government agencies on areas as diverse as:
- Privatization projects
- Government Projects
- Implementation and implication of International Treaties and Agreements
- Provision of legal Advice/Opinions
- Drafting and vetting various Government’s Agreements
- Contract negotiation
- Drafting Government Policies on Information, Communication and technology, Agriculture and Agro Based Industries, Government Financial Procedures and related matters.
Misyail has experience in drafting Legislation and Guidelines used for various Government Departments.
She was active in the Malaysia Judicial and Legal Service Officers Association (JALSOA) from 2004 serving as the Assistant Secretary from 2007-2009. Misyail services were recognized by being made a Life member of the association.
In 2010, she was awarded a master of Law degree from the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania, USA where she specialized in the areas of Information, Communication and Technology, Internet Law, Cybercrime and International Communication, Copyrights and Trademarks.
On 12 January 2012, Misyail was called to the Malaysian Bar by Yang Arif Dato’ Seri Haji Mohd. Zawawi bin Salleh at the High Court in Kuala Lumpur. With the setting up of her own law practice – Messrs Misyail Othman and Co in April 2012, Misyail has since then practicing law specializing in few areas including but not limited to dispute resolution such as contractual disputes, general litigation and commercial contract as well as drafting laws for Government agencies.
In June 2018, Misyail was admitted as Syarie Lawyer for Federal Territories. In January 2019, Misyail was admitted as Syarie Lawyer for Selangor and Negeri Sembilan State. Further to that, in 2021 she was then admitted as Syarie Lawyer for Malacca State.
In addition, based on her vast experience handling bankruptcy cases, she was appointed in 2018 as the Nominee under the Voluntary Arrangement Rules, Insolvency Act 1967.
She is currently pursuing her PHD Degree at Faculty of Business and Accountancy, University of Malaya. At present, she is also a Company Secretary and an affiliate member of Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM).
